Good Karma At Last

Woohoo!

Lisa landed a job today!

She’ll be a office admin/receptionist at another plumbing company in town, and will be trained in some accounting too (which will be good experience for her) as the office manager (owners wife) wants to ease off her own work load and transfer some of that to Lisa over time.

It’s only 4 days a week and is $1/hr less to start than she was getting at her old job… but it’ll work, and she hopefully will pick up some pay increases as she takes on more responsibilities. Hopefully it will bump up to full time at some point too, and in the mean time she hopes to pick up a few shifts here and there at a store she used to work at, whose manager Lisa has a good relationship with.

Such a relief.

I was trying to not let it show itself during day to day life, but the stress of our future finances was getting to me.

I’m totally proud of Lisa… she buckled down, and started job hunting from 1/2 an hour after she was informed of her layoff, and did some job searching/applying/phoning/etc almost every work day since… I think she only skipped one day when she was sick.

And she did it! With time to spare! So now she’ll get a lump sum payment of 1/2 her remaining severance at her old job, which will be a nice bonus for her.

Anyway… just wanted to post this as I appreciated all the support offered in my “Holy Shit, wtf!” posts. lol

Maybe karma helped us out, as yesterday I was at McD’s for lunch, and I walked up to the counter, looked down at the floor, and saw a credit card, some receipts, and two $20 bills laying there. I promptly picked it up and gave it to the cashier.

Maybe the Good Deed fairy was watching over my shoulder and decided to cut us some slack after all our bad luck. LOL

Nah. I gotta give credit 100% to Lisa. She worked hard at finding work, and it paid off quicker than I was expecting.

Wooohooo! I bet that is a relief for both of you! I was thinking about you guys just yesterday and wondering if Lisa had found work yet. I’m happy for you.

    Thanks Kinnigurl.

I’ve been waiting for the good news to finally come, as Lisa had quite a few bites to her phoning around, had several interviews, etc… but it was stressful waiting for one of them to actually result in the job.

Wow! That is great news. Around here the jobs are still pretty scarce. Hubby has been keeping his eys open, but nothing out there for the labor type jobs.

    Hi LMC.

Yeah, it’s iffy around here too. Lisa is fortunate I think in that her recent experience (reception, office admin stuff) is something that companies almost always need. Not a high paying position, but better than nothing.

I hope your hubby finds something soon.
